10:25Now PlayingDefence Secretary John Healey has spoken on Sky News Breakfast following the prime minister's surprise announcement of increased defence spending.
Sir Keir Starmer revealed that spending will rise to 2.5% of GDP by 2027, funded by cuts to international aid contributions.
Speaking from Wellington Barracks, Mr Healey was asked if it is fair to say the UK would not be boosting defence spending if it weren't for Donald Trump.
He disagreed, stating, "No, it's not," and recalled how he and Starmer committed to boosting defence spending to 2.5% last April in Barrow.
He added, "This is a level we've not seen in the UK for 15 years."
