13:39Now PlayingBritain has summoned Israel’s ambassador Tzipi Hotovely over the expansion of military operations in Gaza.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy said the UK was also scrapping its trade deal talks with Israel in protest over the restrictions on aid being delivered into Gaza.
He said the "threat of starvation is hanging over hundreds of thousands of civilians", which he called "abominable".
Israel allowed five aid trucks into Gaza on Monday, having blocked all aid for 11 weeks.
It says the provisions are being used by Hamas.
