8:37Now PlayingSky News has been granted rare access to an emergency department as staff there struggle to cope with the increasing number of patients attending hospital who are suffering from a mental health crisis.
Ashish Joshi visited King George Hospital in Ilford, which sees 15 to 20 mental health patients every day who have complex needs.
Last month, the NHS announced specialist mental health crisis centres will open across England in an attempt to reduce crowding in accident and emergency (A&E) departments.
