5:27Now PlayingThe World Health Organization (WHO) has called for Israeli authorities to release one of its staff members who was detained by the IDF.
The organisation said the Israeli military attacked its staff residence and main warehouse in Deir al Balah on Monday.
It says the assault has compromised its aid operation in Gaza.
In a statement on X, the IDF said: "Yesterday, IDF troops identified shots being fired toward them in the Deir al-Balah area and responded toward the area from which the shooting originated.
"Prior to the start of IDF activities in the area, the IDF warned the civilian population to evacuate from the area for their safety, and was in contact with the international organizations working in the area.
"The IDF has facilitated the safe evacuations of their personnel from evacuated areas, in coordination with the troops and in accordance with operational requirements."
