5:41Now PlayingA group of charity rowers who were mistaken for migrants by a former Reform UK MP say they have taken £20,000 in donations in just 24 hours.
The group hit the headlines after Rupert Lowe posted on X that he had spotted a dinghy of migrants off the coast of Great Yarmouth.
But the "dinghy" was actually an ocean rowing boat crewed by ROW4MND, a team of four attempting to row from Land's End to John O'Groats for motor neurone disease research.
"In 30 minutes, we were wondering why there were so many people watching us from the beach," rower Matthew Parker told Sky News.
"It was just a bit odd, people running along the coastline following us. Took about 30 mins to work out what was going on."
Mr Lowe, the independent MP for Great Yarmouth, has accepted his mistake and donated £1,000 to the charity.
