Leavitt is expected to face questions about the overnight Russian strike on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and the school shooting in Minneapolis yesterday.
At least 19 people have been confirmed killed, four of whom are children, in the strikes on Kyiv.
Donald Trump's Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg has said: "The targets? Not soldiers and weapons but residential areas in Kyiv—blasting civilian trains, the EU & British mission council offices, and innocent civilians.
"These egregious attacks threaten the peace that Trump is pursuing."
There are also expected to be a number of questions about the school shooting in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
The FBI said it is investigating the shooting as an "act of domestic terrorism" and a "hate crime targeting Catholics".
