3:18:53Now Playingmore countries have been formally recognising a Palestinian state at a summit on a two-state solution.
Here's some of the key lines from the meeting, which was boycotted by Israel and the United States:
As French President Emmanuel Macron announced his country's recognition of a Palestinian state, he insisted the move "is a defeat for Hamas";
Antonio Guterres, secretary general of the United Nations, said a two-state solution "is the only way out of this nightmare";
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas insisted "Hamas will have no role in governing" and called for weapons to be surrendered;
He also addressed Israel directly, saying "our future and yours banks on peace";
UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said recognition "must be a spur, not a substitute, for urgent action".
