10:37Now PlayingSky’s Deborah Haynes was paddling in a bay on the tiny Channel Island of Sark when she suddenly felt very sick and cold.
Less than 48 hours later, she was emergency evacuated to the intensive care unit of a London hospital - via cart, tractor, lifeboat, private jet and ambulance.
She has a rare condition called atypical Haemolytic Uremic Syndrome, or aHUS. When triggered, it weakens the immune system, destroys blood cells, and damages vital organs.
