A study by the British Medical Journal says patterns of harm in Gaza exceed those in previous modern-day conflicts.
Those working in hospitals in the enclave have spoken of "unusually severe" traumatic injuries, including blast wounds and severe burns.
Dr Victoria Rose, a plastic surgeon who has worked in Gaza, says conditions on the ground are so bad that a solution is needed quickly.
