3:01Now PlayingThe chancellor has admitted to Sky News that the government is asking ordinary people to pay more following her budget.
Sky's Political Editor Beth Rigby pointed out that the chancellor has frozen tax thresholds and broken the manifesto pledge not to increase national insurance - asking "how in good conscience" Rachel Reeves can stay in place.
The chancellor argued that in a technical way she hasn't broken the word of the manifesto, as it mentioned increasing "rates", rather than freezing them.
She added: "I do recognise that I was asking ordinary people to pay a little bit more, but I've managed to keep that contribution as low as I possibly can by closing loopholes and asking those with the broadest shoulders to pay more."
