Sir Keir Starmer believes Lord Mandelson should no longer be a member of the House of Lords or use his title, a Downing Street spokesperson has said.

The statement came after a weekend of allegations about the former UK ambassador to the US emerged in the latest batch of the Epstein files.

Lord Mandelson denies any wrongdoing but has resigned from the party.

Downing Street said the prime minister does not have the power to remove the former cabinet minister's peerage.
