Leicestershire Police have confirmed a murder investigation is under way in a statement published on X.
"A murder investigation is under way after a man is believed to have been stabbed close to Leicester city centre," the force said.
"The incident happened around 5pm in Oxford Street. An 18-year-old man has been arrested."
