11:53Now PlayingLancashire Police delivered a statement following the conviction of Jamie Varley and John McGowan Fazakerley for the abuse and murder of 13-month-old Preston Davey.
Varley, a secondary school teacher involved in child safeguarding, received a whole life tariff, while McGowan Fazakerley was jailed for 25 years.
The case raises serious questions about safeguarding failures, as Preston was taken to hospital three times during the four months he lived with the men, yet concerns were never escalated.
