The families of six people who died from methanol poisoning in Laos have criticised the expected charges for those alleged to be responsible.

A group of backpackers died in November 2024 after drinking shots thought to be laced with methanol at a hostel in Vang Vieng.

Authorities in Laos are expected to announce charges against the supplier, with a possible sentence of just a year in prison and a fine of around £800.
