The American People Spoke - Donald Trump | Kamala Harris | Election 2024

My candidate lost, and yeah, it hurts. It frustrates me, even scares me. But here’s the reality: the American people spoke, and as an American, it's my responsibility to accept what they chose. That’s what we all do—or at least, that’s what we should do. It’s what we should have done in 2020. So here I am, saying words Donald Trump still can’t bring himself to say about that election: he won. He’s the duly elected president, fair and square.

This is bigger than any one candidate or political side. We’ve lived through four long years of division and bitterness, all because one man refused to accept the result in 2020. And I don’t want to see our country dragged through that again. To everyone who, like me, voted for Kamala Harris—yes, this hurts, but we have to take the high road here. We accept the will of the people because that’s what our democracy depends on.

So to Trump supporters: congratulations. You deserve to celebrate, and I mean that. Your candidate won in an electorial landslide, and you should enjoy this. But I’m asking you to join me in something that’s more important than any win. Let’s lock arms on this one commitment: that no matter what, we accept every election result going forward.
