People keep asking me, “Joe, you’re a former politician, you must know a bunch of millionaires and billionaires. Why don’t you just have one of them write a big check for PAXIS at Paxos.app?”

My answer is simple: I don’t trust the billionaires. I trust the American people.

Right now Trump is leaning on big tech CEOs and corporate leaders. He’s made it crystal clear: don’t you dare go after my masked thugs at ICE. It’s easy for Trump and his lawyer to pressure one CEO or one billionaire and get them to stand down.

It’s a lot harder to go after a million Americans who each chipped in 5 bucks to help protect their immigrant neighbors.

That’s why we’re crowdfunding PAXIS instead of taking billionaire money. We want this lifeline to belong to the people — to the communities being targeted, to the neighbors who care, to anyone willing to put in $5, $10, whatever they can, to stand up to ICE.

There’s also strength in numbers. Trump can lean on the head of Apple. He can’t lean on all of us.
