In this reaction, I respond to their argument that Israel and its supporters are angry because the Iran deal could limit Israel’s war effort. My view is very different: Iran wants Israel out of Lebanon because Hezbollah is one of Iran’s most important proxies. If Israel defeats Hezbollah, Iran becomes far more isolated and far less capable of using proxy armies to attack Israel.
This video breaks down why the Iran deal matters, why the Strait of Hormuz gives Iran leverage, why Hezbollah is not simply a Lebanese “resistance” movement, and why Israel cannot afford to let Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, or the IRGC dictate the terms of the Middle East.
I also respond to the “Israel First” accusation, the dual loyalty argument, the claim that Israel is the real terrorist, and the idea that America can remain a superpower while walking away from the Middle East.
My argument is simple: if America wants to stay out of the fight, then stay out — but don’t tie Israel’s hands. Israel needs to finish the job, and long term, Israel needs to become far more militarily self-reliant.
