In this reaction, I break down why Trump’s comments make no sense: on one hand, he says Israel is causing too much destruction; on the other hand, he says Israel should have finished Hezbollah faster. But doing it faster would almost certainly require more force, more destruction, and more risk.
This Iran deal is a terrible idea for Israel, America, and the free world. It rewards bad actors, empowers Iran, and pressures Israel to stop before the job is done.
I also respond to Trump’s claim that Syria — under Jolani — should handle Hezbollah instead of Israel, and why that idea could create an even bigger disaster in Lebanon.
