49:09Now PlayingThis is a message that I preached at Calvary Chapel Palm Harbor in Palm Harbor, FL on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
In this message I demonstrate that it is perfectly reasonable to regard apostasia in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 as a reference to an exceptional apostasy in the last days. The case I make involves five points. ONE, I expose the weakness of several common arguments folks use to "prove" that apostasia can't refer to apostasy. TWO, I demonstrate that the common Koine usage of apostasia prior to the writing of Second Thessalonians was apostasy that involved a specific event at a specific time instigated by a specific man or group of men. THREE, I point out that the tribulation brings in a time of apostasy that involves a specific event at a specific time instigated by a specific man, even the antichrist. FOUR, I show that the context of 2 Thessalonians presents undeniable evidence of apostasy under the watch of the antichrist. FIVE, point out how the apostasy under the antichrist definitely qualifies as THE apostasy. It is the final and climactic instance of apostasy introduced into the world by the mystery of iniquity.
