After the FCC eliminated Net Neutrality under Donald Trump's administration, it opened the internet up to oligarchs like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos to divide up the world for themselves. Elon Musk's recent attempt to buy Twitter and everything currently happening in the Metaverse are clear examples of this.
This might be great news for the likes of CNN and Fox News since they have political connections willing to write legislation to help them, but it might spell the end for independent journalists like Status Coup. Suppression and censorship are nothing new to the internet, but for now it's "Very legal and very cool."
