General Crisis (17th Century) | World Revolutions #1

The basic idea of The General Crisis is that, for about a century, beginning in the early 17th century, the world experienced a tremendous change that rocked the traditional power-structure to its core, reformulating it in a new and significant way. This is the distinguishing factor of world-revolutions. Power gets reconstituted throughout the world.

The General Crisis is the term used by some historians to describe the period of widespread conflict and instability that occurred from the early 17th century to the early 18th century in Europe and in more recent historiography in the world at large.[1] The concept is much debated by historians and there is no consensus.
