Today I discussed what to do with your Federal check. The importance of having food storage and water storage. I give my opinion after studying the Great Depression, the world wars and Great Recession, that you should never contribute to a 401k ever again.
The 401k was originally designed to help high income workers take a few thousand dollars off the high taxes of the 70's. It has since become the number one place people are saving money for retirement. Except a 401k is not a savings program A 401k is a risky investment program linked to the stock market.
After the economy stabilizes, people need to get serious about building an emergency fund. Whether that is money under the mattress, money stored at a bank or money protected in the strategies I teach in Taming Wall Street.
The American people need liquid access to money in order to manage their lives and emergencies.
