Korean War in Urdu/Hindi

Korean War was the first military confrontation of the Cold War. The war was between South Korea and North Korea. Both were supported by their respective allies. In the North, there were communists who were backed by China and Russia. On the other side, the South was an Anti-Communist and backed by prominently the United States and its allies. When the Soviet Union attacked Japan’s empire on Aug 6, 1945, Russia occupied the North zone of Korea and the United States occupied the South zone of Korea. After this, both the side formed their own administration under their own specific ideology. The division was temporary. After 1949 when both the United States and Russia left the country, a war broke out between North and South.

North Korea attacked South on Jun 25, 1950. The initial attack was a success but soon under the command of General McArthur, North Korean drove back to the 38th parallel. Then US forces crossed the 38th parallel and moved toward the Yalu River. China saw this situation became alarmed and Mao ordered for People’s Volunteer Army. Then both Chinese and North Korean forces drove US troops out of North and recapture Seoul. After this again US forces under the command of Mathew reached 38th parallel but didn’t move forward. A stalemate was reached and the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed which created the Demilitarized Zone between these two countries. No peace treaty was signed and technically war is still not over.

Over 2.5 million Korean lost their lives. Almost 40,000 American dies and more than 100,000 wounded. The war destroyed the country’s 80% industry and infrastructure. After the war, South Korea became a democracy and now it is a developed country. On the other hand, North Korea is still struggling. Only three people have ruled North Korea yet. In 2018 both the leaders of North and South met to end the war formally.
