YouTube Description
as posted by the channelSimla Agreement was the product of the Indo-Pak war of 1971. After the formation of Bangladesh, both Pakistan and India signed Simla accords to stop further tensions among them. Simala agreement was signed on July 2, 1972, at the place of Simla in India. Indira Gandhi was then the prime minister of India and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was then the president of Pakistan. Simla Agreement is important for both India and Pakistan because of its two important provisions. The first provision called for the bilateral negotiations on any matter between these two countries. India has often claimed that Kashmir is a bilateral issue based on the Simla agreement. The other provision is about LOC. In the Simla agreement, both India and Pakistan accepted the ceasefire line as Line of Control between two countries. Indian bureaucrats often see this agreement as a tacit agreement in which LOC was described as the International border. However, Pakistan denies this. Pakistan also wants the solution of Kashmir according to the resolutions of the United Nations Organization, which India denies because of the Simla agreement. The presidential order of 2019 about Kashmir has brought this matter again on the sight, in which India has unilaterally annexed Kashmir into the Indian Union. According to the Simla agreement, Kashmir is a bilateral issue then how India can unilaterally decide about Kashmir.
