37:35Now PlayingHarry talks with Yossi Klein Halevi, a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem and one of the premier authors and journalists chronicling the situation on the ground in Israel, and a prominent proponent of a two-state solution. The situation in the country is grave, with Israel threatened militarily on several fronts and riven by internal social conflicts. And yet, the country again displayed its pluck and daring in its recent assassination in Teheran of Hamas political leader Ismali Haniyeh, leaving only mastermind Yahya Sinwar alive among the architects of the October 7 massacre. But deep social and political discord remains over the prosecution of the Gaza War, the conflict between annihilation of Hamas and return of the hostages, and response to the saber rattling from Hezbollah and ultimately Iran. Halevi perceives Israel as facing a kind of last chance for survival of its essential character and very existence.
