YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe G36 German infantry main battle rifle is one of the most requested weapons we get and I can understand why. In this video I try to explain if the G36 rifle is terrible or awesome. We learn the history of modern German infantry weapon and how it came from the G3. Its used by over 40 countries around the world including many in NATO.
A lot of soldiers originally had unreasonably high hopes for the G36 myself included. I loved it when I got to test fire it back in 2010 right before all the controversy started. It was supposed to be the future of combat rifles with its folding stock, lightweight composite plastic housing and it even had translucent magazines.

So we’re going to finally get to the bottom of this debate raging across internet forums and basements across the world about whether or not the rifle is plastic flimsy and inaccurate or if the problems with it were operator error. In 2010 an incident happened in Afghanistan with the G36 that has forever tarnished its reputation. A platoon of German infantry got into a firefight and found the weapons overheated after putting only 60 rounds through it.
But we still haven’t solved this case yet. Who was right? Did H&K make a garbage rifle or was it used incorrectly? A German Army official test found that its accuracy would degrade in certain conditions. But then in 2014 the German Federal Ministry of Defense announced the G36 overheating wasn’t the weapons fault but instead was due to the type of ammunition used essentially clearing its name.
