The battle of Wanat was one of the bloodiest in all of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. During the early morning hours of July 13th over 200 enemy insurgents moved into place to assault the newly half built combat outpost. 49 American soldiers held off the enemy and prevented their base from being over run.
