Kirstie Ennis was just starting her service in the Marines Corps when a helicopter crash in Afghanistan took her leg. Growing up in a military family, Kirstie always knew she was going to serve, and she planned to spend her career in the military. The crash disrupted her plans, but instead of slowing her down, the accident fueled her to do more on one leg than she ever dreamed of doing on two. Kirstie went on to become a Paralympic snowboarder, a Hollywood stuntwoman, and even climbed the south summit of Mt. Everest. Find out about her plans to climb the Seven Summits in 2021 and her efforts to encourage everyone to climb the mountain in front of them.

Task & Purpose began with a mission to engage, inform, and stand up for our community. That means listening to the servicemembers, veterans, and others who make up our readership and tackling the issues they’re facing head-on. Make the Call was created in partnership with Verizon to address the isolation and mental health crisis that plagues servicemembers and veterans and promote the people and programs that are helping to build stronger connections and community.
