One day after Hamas’ October 7th attacks, the islamic terrorist organization Hezbollah opened fire on Israel’s northern border. Israeli forces retaliated with artillery fire, airstrikes and machine gun fire. Since then attacks along the northern border between Israel and Lebanon are now a daily occurrence Except… despite all this something surprising has happened. The fighting hasn’t bled into a larger regional war.
But there’s a ticking clock on this limited warfare because NGO’s estimate 100,000 Israeli civilians and 76,000 Lebanese civilians have been displaced by the fighting and are still living in limbo. The situation is unsustainable raising questions about what will happen a first, will a peace agreement be reached or all out warfare will be launched.
