The Army has officially ended its relationship with the M10 Booker, but could the Marine Corps come in and sweep the not-so-light tank off its feet?
The commanding officer and executive officer of 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion made the case in an op-ed on Task & Purpose (link below) for the LAR community to take possession of the roughly 80 Bookers that the Army took delivery of.
They argue that the 42-ton Booker could help fill a capability gap created by Force Design 2030 doctrinal changes and slow weapons programs while the Corps waits for the LAV's replacement.
We dig into their argument, the flaws, and what else the Corps could field as they away for the Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle meant to replace the LAV.
