Here’s a script you can use to express that you want more without putting the friendship on the line:
“I really appreciate your friendship, and sometimes I feel like there’s a little spark here for me beyond just friendship. I don’t want anything to come between us as friends, but I would be open to exploring something more if you’re up for it.”
This is a great way not to be too vulnerable, to show appreciation for the friendship, and to avoid putting pressure on them.
