Infidelity doesn’t come out of nowhere. Research shows that when attachment needs go unmet or unmanaged, predictable patterns can emerge, and they look different for each attachment style.

Anxious patterns may seek reassurance and validation outside the relationship. Avoidant patterns may be pulled toward novelty, freedom, or autonomy. Fearful-avoidant patterns can oscillate between both. Meanwhile, secure attachment tends to activate protectiveness around the relationship itself.

This isn’t about blame or labeling. It’s about understanding why trust breaks down and how awareness creates choice. When attachment needs are addressed directly and skills are built intentionally, trust can be repaired and relationships can become safer, more honest, and deeply interdependent again.

Did you ever notice patterns in why trust was broken, not just that it was?
