When we communicate through criticism, blame, or vague expectations, the deeper need often gets lost. Instead of saying, “You never care about me,” it can sound completely different when we say, “I’m feeling disconnected and would love more quality time together.”
One of the biggest relationship challenges is assuming someone should automatically know what support looks like for us. But support means different things to different people and without clarity, both people can leave feeling unseen or frustrated.
Healthy communication isn’t about hiding your feelings. It’s about learning how to express your needs clearly, positively, and specifically so they can actually be received.
