Christ asks us, why are you sitting there worrying about tomorrow? The birds of the sky don't worry about finding food or shelter. Why? God provides.
The wildflowers in the field bloom and grow knowing God provides all they need for their cycles in life.
It took me a LONG time to acknowledge this. I'm in a theology class right now, and it's covering St. Ignatius' Rules For Discernment of Spirits. One of the things we talked about last lecture is the fact that in order to encounter God we have to be in the PRESENT.
The Devil tries to pull us into the future with worry, or the past with despair and guilt. But Christ told us CLEARLY to be here. To be NOW. That is where we meet Him.
So although you do need to think about securing yourself and your future, stay present in the moment. Pray. Ask God for what you want, and let Him give you exactly what you need. This is the HARDEST thing to do especially when you have so much on your plate.
But trust me, I've been slowly making that mental shift and it's helped TREMENDOUSLY. Try it out. Develop your prayer life, and meet God right here. He's carrying you!
