as posted by the channelFitness for me became my greatest joy and my biggest pain. In the same way I've used fitness to transform my body to levels unimaginable as a professional bodybuilder, I've also used it to abuse my body with eating disorders and exercise compulsion.
I put fitness, competing, and my body as graven idols. Their place in my life taking a pedestal to everything else. I would spend hours upon hours in the gym. Following an "anything it takes to win" mentality to the extreme.
I was wrapped up in a culture in the bodybuilding world where you have to make a choice about how many of your morals you're willing to debase in order to have success.
I allowed myself to be objectified. I objectified myself. The root of it all... Pride, Vanity, Ego, Lust. What the hell does any of that have to do with being healthy?
Well that's what the fitness world has come down to now. It's everywhere in our culture. It has taken over the message.
And personally, I got tired of it.
The greatest change I've had in my fitness journey over the last few years has happened when I decided to truly let my faith be the light in my fitness journey.
To do this for the sheer respect that our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit. And if you come from that standpoint, you ask yourself, how can I have the best temple to allow the light of the spirit to move and work through me.
