Every day, I wake up and do one thing that has transformed my life: the heroic minute. This practice, created by Saint Josemaria Escriva, is about jumping out of bed the moment my alarm goes off. No hitting the snooze button, no reaching for my phone to doom scroll. Just a decisive start to the day with purpose and discipline.
A few asked me why I am praying in the Sujud (Muslim) prayer position. But I'm doing nothing of the such (respectfully). I am however submitting myself to Our Lord in prayer.
Saint Josemaria Escriva spoke of the heroic minute as the first victory of the day, a moment to conquer oneself and set the tone for what follows. Embracing this practice has helped me be more focused and productive. It’s a reminder that every little thing I do can be a prayer, an opportunity to sanctify my life through Christ.
Starting my day this way helps me keep Christ at the center of everything, allowing me to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. It’s a small, powerful step that has made a huge difference in how I approach each day.
Try incorporating the heroic minute into your morning routine and experience the transformation yourself.
