YouTube Description
as posted by the channelMost people jump straight into Matthew 16 and start arguing about whether Peter is the rock. But before Jesus gives Peter the keys of the kingdom, we need to ask a deeper question:
Where did the language of keys, kingdom, opening, shutting, and authority come from?
In this clip, I walk through Isaiah 22 and the office of the royal steward in the Davidic kingdom. Shebna is removed from his office, Eliakim is appointed in his place, and the key of the house of David is placed on his shoulder. That Old Testament background changes the way we hear Jesus’ words to Peter in Matthew 16.
This is not just a random Catholic proof text. It is part of a much bigger biblical pattern involving the kingdom, delegated authority, the keys, and the office behind them.
