Shaboozey is addressing online criticism of his emotional Grammys acceptance speech.
The 30-year-old said in a Feb. 3 X post that he wanted to "acknowledge the conversation" surrounding his speech at the Grammy Awards honoring immigrants after he received criticism for not mentioning Black Americans.
The singer, who won the Grammy for best country duo/group performance, clarified his intent behind saying onstage at the Grammy Awards Premiere ceremony – which took place before the CBS telecast – that immigrants "built this country, literally," as he honored his immigrant mother.
