You may recall that back on March 6 I did a show in which I critiqued an academic paper of Dr. Funk's that engaged in a comparison/contrast of US self-defense law with the defense laws of the UK and Germany.
Dr. Funk's key point was that although US self-defense laws were wildly perceived as extremely liberal to the defender, in fact they were rather more constrained than were certain facets of the self-defense law of those two other nations.
My quibbles with Dr. Funk's paper were mostly differences in perspective on various facets of self-defense law, rather than substantive, but it was a fun exercise for myself and the Law of Self Defense community.
Little did I know that Dr. Funk--at the time a total stranger to me--would reach out to discuss my critique, and in a very open and non-defensive manner. We've since enjoyed lunch together--thanks for buying, Markus!--and he agreed to come on the show as a guest--and today is that day!
