54:31Now PlayingOn June 1, 2023 a masked 14-year-old Jor'Dell Richardson threatened a liquor store clerk with an apparent pistol, committing an armed robbery along with several other masked young black men. Police arrived as the 14-year and other robbers fled the store carrying armfuls of merchandise.
Police chased and tackled Richardson to the ground, at which point they became aware of the apparent pistol in his waistband. During the struggle on the ground Richardson attempted to reach for the apparent pistol, at which point he was shot and killed by the arresting officers.
It would later be discovered that Richardson's apparent pistol was, in fact, a BB gun.
Last week the local prosecutor released his report on this Officer Involved Shooting, concluding that a prosecution of the officers involved with not be legally or ethically justified.
