In today’s livestream highlight, I break down one of the biggest legal myths in American politics: that anyone born on U.S. soil automatically becomes a citizen. That is not what the 14th Amendment says.
The left loves to cite the phrase “All persons born in the United States...” and stop there — but the full clause is “...and subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” And that jurisdiction isn’t just legal — it’s political. It doesn’t apply to illegal migrants, foreign diplomats, or anyone who owes allegiance to another nation.
This section of the 14th Amendment was specifically written to ensure that freed slaves wouldn’t be left stateless — not to grant citizenship to the children of every foreign national who happens to be here unlawfully.
