At SCOTUS today, the Left openly argued that unelected bureaucrats must be protected from the elected president — even when they exercise executive power against the American people. Their defense? “We’ve been doing it this way for 90 years.”
That’s not a constitutional argument. That’s an admission of long-running abuse.
Article II vests executive power in ONE person, precisely so voters know who to blame — and who to remove. “Independent” agencies answer to no one, yet wield coercive power nationwide. That’s not stability. That’s rule without accountability.
If SCOTUS blesses this theory, Congress could hollow out the presidency agency by agency, leaving voters with the illusion of control and none of the reality.
This case isn’t about the FTC.
It’s about whether the Constitution still means what it says.
