Join me to watch yesterday’s speech by SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas in which he blasts Progressive doctrines for undermining America’s founding political and legal principles.
In this speech given yesterday at the University of Texas Austin Law School timed to the nation's 250th anniversary, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas delivered a pointed rebuke of progressivism, calling it an existential threat to the founding principles of the United States.
Thomas argued that progressivism seeks to displace the values enshrined in the Declaration of Independence — particularly the idea that rights come from God rather than government — and blamed intellectuals and universities for fostering widespread cynicism and hostility toward America.
Without naming specific political figures, he lamented that many of Washington's leaders have abandoned their commitment to traditional morality, religious piety, free enterprise, and constitutional originalism, hiding behind labels like "institutionalist" or "pragmatist" to excuse their failures.
He closed by urging Americans to summon the same courage as the nation's founders and be willing to make personal sacrifices to preserve the country's form of government.
