During his confirmation hearings, Kennedy repeatedly said the trip had “nothing to do with vaccines.” But newly obtained documents include a letter Kennedy sent to Samoa’s prime minister before the trip proposing that his team examine what happened with the country’s MMR vaccines.
That matters because Kennedy’s Samoa trip has been heavily scrutinized for years. Later in 2019, Samoa suffered a devastating measles outbreak that killed 83 people, most of them young children.
