Were most Canadian truckers supportive of the anti-vax protests in the Canadian capital and along the U.S.-Canada border? If you’re on or watching Fox News, you probably think that these “freedom” truckers are supported by large swaths of truckers, but you’d be absolutely wrong.
Fox News has been obsessing over the anti-public health protests of far right extremists and Canadian truckers in recent days. The party line from the network is that these are good and righteous people whose protest is legitimate, and have the support of the rest of the “working class” (white) people of Canada.
But the network had on Laura Fink, who burst that bubble live on air, pointing out that a small minority of Canadian truckers are protesting public health laws, while the rest are almost entirely vaccinated. Their union, the Teamsters, is pro-vax and the majority continue to do the work of delivering goods during a period of intensely brittle global supply chains.
