How should an anti-imperialist, anti-war left react to Putin’s selfish and destructive act of war in Ukraine? It’s a tough question, as NATO is not an organization that we believe is in the interest of international solidarity, but we should now understand that Putin’s Russia is also not a vehicle through which the American empire can be opposed.
At a time where both Republicans and Democrats are clamoring for more and more defense spending, how can progressives and anti-war advocates lay forth a vision from the left at a time like this while not minimizing the human impact on the Ukrainian people? Some on the left have tried to thread the needle and done so pretty terribly. Wish we had an antiwar movement.
