In recent years, the FBI has publicly called white supremacy the largest extremist threat to American lives and property. In one high profile case, the FBI stopped an assination plot against the governor of Michigan. On the face of it, the case was a huge win in the fight against domestic terrorism. When you looked a little closer, the majority of people involved were working directly for, or with, the FBI as informants and agents. What seemed like a homegrown assination plot starts to look a bit like a piece of macabre theater.
These systems on entrapment and incitement that the FBI utalizes are also employed on Muslim Americans. In fact, the post 9/11, patriot act, and domestic witch hunt for so-called “Islamic Extremists,” is where many of these strategies and tactics find their origins.
