as posted by the channelThe takes from anti-choice extremists since Dobbs was decided by the Supreme Court last Friday have been absolutely unhinged. For example, in Utah, State Representative Karianne Lisonbee thinks that women can control the "intake of semen" into their own bodies.
Here’s the full quote: "I got a text message today saying I should seek to control men's ejaculations and not women's pregnancies… that I clearly don't trust women enough to make choices to control their own body… And my response is I do trust women enough to control when they allow a man to ejaculate inside of them and to control that intake of semen.” Totally normal stuff!
**Trigger warning, Sexual Assault** For this criticism to come from Utah of all places is so dizzying that it almost makes me want to throw up. According to crime stats from the FBI: In 2019, the reported rape rate in Utah was significantly higher than the U.S. rate at 56.8 per 100,000 adults, compared to 42.6 per 100,000 adults. Worse still, this is really not that much different from saying “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” which got Republican Representative Todd Akin exiled from public life after saying that in 2014. Things have gotten so much worse.
