YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe left has some representation in Congress, so what were they able to accomplish during the 117th congress? According to Max Elbaum, our guest this week, progressives have things to be happy about, even as the future remains fairly bleak.
On foreign policy, there has been movement on the war in Yemen, action on Palestine (which has been a third rail for decades of American politics), and opposition to the rapidly forming blob idea that the United States is in a new Cold War with China. These politicians don’t have an overwhelming amount of political leverage, so they have had to pick their battles with great care.
Ultimately, though, the left as a coherent force in American politics still doesn’t really exist. In order to create a state of affairs that would allow it to make demands of politicians and actually be able to deliver results by way of voting blocks or otherwise, the left is stuck sitting on the sidelines. Until then, the upper limit of what kind of demands the left is able to make is practically zero.
