as posted by the channelIs it just us, or are your feeds noticeably worse than they used to be? Everything seems old and repurposed and uninspired. Making a consistent income from digital media/content creation is pretty tough to do, and as a result it seems like we’ve drifted away from original work and more towards rip-offs and derivatives filling our online feeds.
Twitter obviously has its own problems. With a majority of its pre-Elon staff wiped away, and only a scared few engineers and sycophants left, the platform is lurching from half-baked idea to half-baked idea with dizzying speed. Our feeds are worse, and the ranking algorithm for the new “following” and “for you” feeds are equally bad at the thing Twitter was known for: finding out what’s happening in your online community and those around the world.
Other platforms like TikTok and Instagram are suffering from a slightly different problem. TikTok is facing increasingly sinophobic regulatory threats, but it too is seeing a decrease in original content and a rise of knock-off/derivative work. YouTube, and Twitch, on the other hand, are interested in giving their creators a more reasonable revenue split than TikTok, though, which offers pennies on the dollar (compared to YT/Twitch).
